What are you storing?
The most common ways Roaring Fork Valley locals and businesses use our units, and the sizes that fit each job.
Ski & snowboard gear storage
Skis, boards, boots, poles, fat bikes and all the winter kit, out of the garage and five minutes off Highway 82. Grab it on your way upvalley to Aspen or Snowmass with 24/7 gate access.
Best fit: 5x5 or 5x10
Contractor & tool storage
A secure home base for tools, materials and job equipment between sites. Contractors working Aspen to Glenwood Springs use our gated yard for trailers and our drive up units for daily loading.
Best fit: 10x10, 10x15 or outdoor
Restaurant, hotel & event storage
Seasonal patio furniture, event inventory, banquet supplies, extra linens and catering equipment. Service businesses across the valley keep overflow here instead of paying for bigger back of house space.
Best fit: 10x10 or 10x20
Real estate & home staging storage
Staging furniture, artwork and decor between listings. Agents and stagers keep inventory in climate controlled units so pieces stay in show condition, ready for the next Aspen or Basalt listing.
Best fit: 10x15 or 10x20, climate controlled
Seasonal equipment storage
Swap the house with the seasons: snowblowers and sleds in summer, bikes, rafts and paddleboards in winter. Month to month rentals mean you only pay for the space while you need it.
Best fit: 5x10 or 10x10
Family & household storage
Between homes, remodeling, or making room for a growing family. A 10x10 handles about a bedroom, a 10x20 takes most of a three bedroom home, and we will help you size it right.
Best fit: 10x10 to 10x30
Tire & wheel storage
Both sets of wheels on racks instead of in the garage. Four tires with rims fit a 5x5, and a 5x10 leaves room for racks, a jack and the torque wrench. A climate controlled unit is the best home for rubber through a long mountain season, and those units go early.
Best fit: 5x5 or 5x10
Motorcycle, ATV & snowmobile storage
Covered, gated space for a motorcycle, side by side, ATV or snowmobile between seasons, with the garage freed up for the cars. Drive up units let you roll it in, and 24/7 gate access means you load on your own schedule.
Best fit: 5x10 or 10x10
Kayak, raft & paddleboard storage
Rafts, kayaks, paddleboards, wetsuits, PFDs and the rest of the summer water kit, out of the hallway and the basement. Month to month rentals mean you pay for the months you actually use the space.
Best fit: 5x10 or 10x10
Bike & cycling gear storage
Bikes, trainers, spare wheels, helmets and winter cycling gear for households whose racks are already full. A 5x5 takes a couple of bikes and the parts bin, a 5x10 holds the whole family's quiver.
Best fit: 5x5 or 5x10
Furniture & mattress storage
A sofa, a mattress set, a dining table and the pieces in between, out of the house during a move or a remodel. Climate controlled units are the right call for upholstery, mattresses and wood furniture, so reserve before you book the truck.
Best fit: 10x10 to 10x20, climate controlled
Wine, art & collectibles storage
Case wine, artwork, instruments and collectibles that need steady temperature and humidity instead of a Basalt garage in August. Climate controlled units are limited, so tell us what you are storing and we will check what is open.
Best fit: 5x5 to 10x10, climate controlled
Remodel & renovation storage
Everything out of the house while the kitchen, the bath or a whole floor is open. We help you size it so the crew has room to work, and month to month terms mean you can add a unit for the messy phase and give it back when the paint is dry.
Best fit: 10x10 to 10x20
Seasonal staff & student storage
Winter and summer employees, ski instructors, nannies and students between terms need a lockable space for a suitcase, a bike and a few boxes, not a full unit. Rentals are month to month, so you pay only while you are in the valley.
Best fit: 5x5 or 5x10
Documents & file storage
Boxes of contracts, client files, tax papers and old hardware you cannot throw out but have no room for. A 5x5 holds a surprising number of banker boxes, and 24/7 gate access means you can pull a file on the way home instead of waiting for office hours.
Best fit: 5x5 or 5x10
Packing it right matters as much as sizing it right
Pallets off the concrete, plastic bins instead of cardboard, blankets instead of shrink wrap, and a winter prep routine for an RV or boat. Our packing and prep guide walks through all of it.
Read the packing & prep guide →Storing for a business?
Restaurants, hotels, event crews, contractors, stagers and shops all keep overflow here. See what each one stores, the sizes that fit, and the office over storage units at 298 Park Ave.
Storage for valley businesses →Sizing questions
What size storage unit do I need?
A 5x5 holds a few boxes and small items, a 10x10 fits about one bedroom of furniture, and a 10x20 can handle most of a two or three bedroom home. Our size guide has more detail, or call us and we will help you pick.
What size storage unit do I need for a one bedroom apartment?
Most one bedroom apartments fit in a 10x10 unit. If you have a lot of boxes or bulky furniture, a 10x15 gives you breathing room.
What size unit do I need for ski gear?
A 5x5 holds skis, boards, boots and gear for a couple of people. A 5x10 comfortably fits a whole family's winter kit plus a few bikes for summer.
Do contractors use your storage units?
Yes. Local contractors keep tools, materials and equipment in our drive up units and park trailers in the gated outdoor yard. Month to month terms work well between jobs.
Can businesses store inventory or equipment?
Yes. Restaurants, hotels, event companies, stagers and real estate agents use our units for inventory, furniture and seasonal equipment. Climate controlled units are available for anything temperature sensitive.
Will a car fit in a storage unit?
A standard car generally needs a 10x20 unit. For larger vehicles, RVs, boats and trailers, our outdoor parking is usually the better choice.
Is it better to go bigger or smaller?
If you will need to get things out regularly, go slightly bigger so you can leave an aisle. If it is long term storage you will not touch, pack it tight in a smaller unit to save money.
Do you store tires and wheels?
Yes. Four tires with rims fit a 5x5, and a 5x10 leaves room for racks and tools. A climate controlled unit is the best place for rubber through a long season, and those units are limited, so call early.
Can I store wine, art or collectibles?
Climate controlled units keep temperature and humidity steady, which is what case wine, artwork, instruments and collectibles need. Availability is limited, so tell us what you are storing and we will check what is open.
Where can a seasonal worker store their things?
A 5x5 or 5x10 works well for a suitcase, a bike and a few boxes. Rentals are month to month, so you can start when you arrive in the valley and give the space back when you leave.
